Late October hike to the north side of Mt. Conness looking for the last remaining field of ice known as the Conness Glacier. Started the trail from Saddlebag Lake trailhead and hiked off trail towards North Peak until cutting over to the glacier. Great view of 20 lakes basin to the north diving into Lundy Canyon to the east. Massive granite walls on each side of the Conness Cirque. Huge bolders, Rock fall at 5:55. Bright white talus and loose scree. The last few lakes are filled with rock flour, or glacier sediment that gives the lakes their teal glowing color. Windy and chilly but an epic day for hiking.
