Today, in our sports encyclopedia series we will talk about Two Handed Tennis.
Two Handed Tennis, also known as two racket tennis is a modified and rather an unusual variant of tennis.
The basic objective of the game is to score four points to win a game of tennis.
Two Handed Tennis is played on a rectangular court with a net running across the center.
The game is exactly similar to the traditional tennis game except that each player has a racket in each hand.
The game begins with a coin toss that determines which player must serve first and which side they want to serve from.
The basic target for each player is to hit the ball over the net making sure that it lands within the margins of the court.
The objective should be to hit the ball in a way that results in the opponent being unable to return the ball.
A point is awarded to the player if their opponent is unable to return the ball within the court within the two bounces.
If the ball lands outside the margins of the court it is considered out.
The player must return the ball to the correct area on the court to avoid giving away the point.
A point is given away to the opponent if the ball hits the net and doesn’t go into the opponent's area.
After the service is made, players are allowed to make unlimited shots between them to continue the play.
Players are given points in scores of 15, 30, and 40.
15 represents 1 point, 30 represents two points and forty represents three.
In a situation where a player touches the net, distracts his opponent, or impedes in any way then they automatically lose the point.
A player is required 4 points to win a game and if there is a draw, deuce occurs.
From deuce, a player needs to win 2 consecutive points to win the game.
The first player who wins six games by two or more wins the entire match.
