August 17, 2023 -- Coal mining has a long, rich history in Nova Scotia. It began in 1720 at Cow Bay (Port Morien) Cape Breton and was developed on a small scale by the French for local use at Louisbourg. To gain a better understanding of the province's mining history, I stopped at the Miners Museum in Glace Bay, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. If you visit this site, TAKE THE TOUR of the mine. The museum itself is ok; however, the tour was exceptional, especially since our guide, Eric, had spent his career working in this mine. This video focuses on the museum's canned presentation with some of Eric's tour included. I'll make another more in-depth video just of Eric's tour.
