September 2, 2023 -- Yes, I went sailing two days in a row. Today's ride was on the Eastern Star in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. This 48-ft wooden ketch was originally built as a cruiser for a Danish diplomat in 1948. Her hull is made of mahogany, teak, oak and hackmatack, a combination of fine, durable woods that accounts for her longevity and rich, solid appearance. She has a full displacement keel and draws eight and a half feet of water. She's definitely a beautiful boat and I enjoyed today's cruise among a much smaller group of people than yesterday's sailing on the Bluenose II.
