The Maine Solar System Model
September 13, 2023 -- The Maine Solar System Model is the largest 3D scale model of the solar system in the western hemisphere. Established by the University of Maine at Presque Isle and the northern Maine community, this model extends for nearly 100 miles along U.S. Route 1, from the dwarf planet Eris in Topsfield to the Sun at the university. I picked up the model at Pluto in Houlton, where I crossed the border from Canada, and followed the trail north to the university.
