September 10, 2023 -- Near the northern end of the Bay of Fundy is a significant monument to Acadian culture and deportation. The Grand-Pré National Historic Site in Nova Scotia, Canada, details how the Acadians successfully developed the area by building dikes to create farmland, the traumatic deportation of 10,000 Acadians after the French ceded the land to the British, and their eventual return. The site has a terrific visitor center, a splendid Victorian garden, a Memorial Church and other engaging displays. It is well worth visiting.
