Teach Simplifying Fractions
Fractions are a challenging topic for many school students, so should be taught clearly and with plenty of time for students to understand what the fraction symbols mean.
I recommend that you allow students "exploration time" to discover the relationship between fractions such as 3/4 and 9/12. Then you could ask students to explain how one fraction can be converted into the other. Finally, we want to help students to find the equivalent fraction with the smallest terms, or the fraction in its simplest terms.
