Provided students are able to double numbers up to 18, they will be able to work out 4x number facts by doubling the other number twice. For example:

4 x 8 = double (double 8)
4 x 8 = double 16
4 x 8 = 32

This strategy can be extended for use with larger numbers, of course. For example:

4 x 350 = double (double 350)
4 x 350 = double 700
4 x 350 = 1400
