In January 2012, a group of Taliban stormed a stormed a communications center in Afghanistan and barricaded themselves there with several hostages. Local police tried to free the hostages but were repelled again and again. Fortunately, special forces of the polish “JWK” happened to be nearby, who heard the gunfire and offered their help.
As the soldiers were planning out the rescue operation, they noticed a side staircase that would allow them to directly enter the building. Since the Taliban were likely to execute their captives soon, the Soldiers attacked immediately.
Under the cover of snipers, they approached the building in two groups and blew open the door on the staircase. A few seconds later, the operators swarmed into the hallway of the building and received fire from a small room. Using a flash-bang grenade, they engaged the threat and then cleared the rest of the building. After only a few minutes, the Poles had secured the entire floor, eliminated 2 more insurgents, and successfully freed all hostages.
