LMS 46233 - The Appleby Explorer
LMS Coronation Class 4-6-2 No. 46233 The Duchess of Sutherland was the motive power of the PRCLT railtour titled 'The Appleby Explorer' on Saturday 25 October 2014. The tour was originated at Derby and 46233 joined the train at Crewe, taking it up and over Shap and to Appleby via Upperby, the Duchess would return the tour over the Settle and Carlisle line via Blackburn and head back to Crewe were once again the diesel would take it back to Derby.
Here, the Duchess is seen first making the climb to Aisgill summit at Mallerstang however 46233 seemed to be being heavily assisted by the diesel on the rear. The second scene was taken with my second camera at Aisgill as the Duchess reaches the summit.
