My interest in Ghar Hanex increased after seeing some photos of a mini version of a Azure Window on a social media, which made me search for this site further.
Gear Hanex is located between Blue Grotto and Hagar Qim, Mnajdra temples. You can get there by car or even by bus.
It took us a bit of time to figure out, which way to take. Luckily there is an internet connection in the area :)
Walk towards to the Hagar Qim temple. No need to buy a ticket unless you want to visit these amazing megalithic temples. There is a pathway along the fence leading to the Manajdra Temples, which will eventually divert to a natural pathway on your left. Pretty much follow the Hamrija watch tower or the Memorial landmarks.
We tried to figure out if there was some kind of a 'used' way down but Nope, you will need to climb it down like a mountain goat. You can either descend near by the tower or the memorial.
You will find your zig-zag way but wear shoes with a good grip. The rocks are sharp so leave your fancy shoes at home :)
Keep in mind that the entire area is exposed to the sun rays so gear yourself up with a hat, WATER, SunBlock, snacks and if you don't want to get sunburnt, wear a shirt or a hoodie like I did.
If you like exploring and seeing some nature's power, there is lots to see. The water is crystal clear with many spots to dip in. Be careful where you go or step because some edges are great for pics but one doesn't know when it will crumble down :-E...and you really don't want to be a part of that crumble.
It is a good half day trek and you can walk it all the way to Ghar Lapsi, so don't fall into desperation when you run out of water :). There is a restaurant, park, public toilets and a small rocky bay to cool down.
We had a good time in a nature and I always love to go the the South of Malta because it truly is an amazing escape form the hustle and bustle from your daily life.
Thank you for watching!
