Placement is a major step in Physical design. PnR tool does various steps to complete the placement step. The major steps of placement have been explained in this session with proper examples and illustrations. The pre-placement steps like pin placement, macro placement, placement blockage, routing blockage, power plan, end cap cell placement, well tap cell placement etc. have also been explained in brief as the background of this topic.
The flow of the session is as bellow.
0:00 Introduction
0:40 Backgroud - Pre Placement
4:05 Placement Steps
4:55 Initial placement or Global Placement
7:00 Legalization
7:50 High Fanout Net Synthesis
