Ghost Recon is a series that has continued to the present day, but the original game in 2001 still has a cult following. It's often highlighted as one of the first in the golden age of tactical shooters of favor simulation over power fantasy. Everyone, ally or enemy, tends to drop with one bullet. You command a squad of several units instead of charging in alone and missions favor stealth over brute force. The plot revolved around the somewhat prophetic invasion of Georgia by Russian ultranationalists, leading to an unstable situation threatening war. An elite squad of soldiers is sent in to defuse the situation, one mission at a time.
There was two expansions, one set in Cuba and one set in Eritrea.
