In Inquisitor you play as a recently employed (conscripted) emissary for the Inquisition to town of Hillbrandt which is experiencing all manner of monstrous attacks, intrigues and heresies and the disturbing fulfillment of ancient prophesies related to the ending of the world. Your path can take the form of following the order of paladins, the calling of a priest or the guile and treachery of a thief, and each has their own skills and methods.
The game is unfairly maligned I think as either a Diablo clone or a game that's too difficult and frustrating. It IS tough, but this I think lends a feeling of delayed gratification which keeps it lively to the very end.
Not to mention this is more than just hack and slash and looting. You're questioning suspects, gathering testimony, and eventually employing evidence or torture and the final decision to execute those guilty of crimes against God and Man. Do you take advantage of this power over life and death? Each step towards becoming a self-styled savior has the risk of sending you deep into the shadows of demonic evil...and demons don't like rivals.
