In June 2019, a submarine loaded with cocaine tried to reach the coast of the United States undetected. But the Coast Guard was faster.
The authorities initially tried to get the boat to stop with verbal commands, obviously to no avail.
The homemade submarine is not actually a true submarine with diving capabilities, but can mostly swim under the surface to be better disguised. In addition, its color perfectly matches the ocean, making it almost impossible to detect at a greater distance.
The drug smugglers probably believed that nothing would happen as long as they just kept driving, but the authorities had other plans. At full speed, they jumped on the half-submerged boat and paid a personal visit to the narcos, who immediately surrendered.
According to reports, there were over 7 tons of cocaine with a market value of hundreds of millions of dollars on board. It was not the first submarine to be netted by the Coast Guard. To this day, drug smugglers use homemade submarines built in their hidden bases, sometimes with great success.
