Mark Forester was a Combat Controller in Afghanistan who died trying to rescue his comrades.

Along with special forces, he attacked a Taliban stronghold, where they came under heavy fire. Mark engaged the enemy positions, but as the fire intensified, they had to move out to a complex of buildings. In doing so, the team was targeted by a sniper, who killed one of the soldiers. Only Mark's precisely directed airstrikes could take out the sniper and the rest of the team reached the compound safely.

Mark now joined the main forces flanking the enemy positions. When another soldier was fatally shot in the process, Mark voluntarily placed himself in the line of fire, engaged the gunner and organized the recovery of the fallen man. He then continued to lead his comrades until the team's medic went down during a firefight. Again, Mark tried to fight his way to his comrade, but was hit himself. Both soldiers succumbed to their wounds.

A brotherhood that no one else could ever understand.
