Canada Lynx in Montana
Mostly lynx and snowshoe hare captures in this young conifer forest in Montana. Two lynx at 24 seconds! Watch the final clip, starting at 1:23 -- you can really see the cat splay its toes, an effort to minimize sinking in that deep, soft snow.
Lynx are closely related to bobcats but they rely heavily on snowshoe hares. As more generalist and aggressive animals, bobcats tend to out-compete lynx...except where deep snow cover throughout winter gives the larger footed lynx the advantage.

The coyote was oddly slow in reaction to the camera. We got that coyote 3 times in December and January and each time he behaved similarly - just walking casually. I do think there was something wrong with it but not sure what. Its coat looked good, it did not appear to be starving, and there was no limping or other obvious injury.
