Let's discuss 7 foods to avoid and what to replace them with.
1. Liquid sugar. This includes not only soda but also juices. These products contain roughly the same amount of sugar. They contain a huge amount of empty carbohydrates and sugar, but lack the nutrients that protect against this sugar. When you drink sugary soda or juice, you deplete your body's reserves, and the processing of this fuel causes significant damage.
2. Pasteurized cheese products. If a product contains less than 51% cheese, it cannot be called cheese. Therefore, it is called other names: processed cheese, cheese product, or pasteurized cheese product. These cheeses contain skim milk, canola oil, milk protein concentrate, modified food starch, whey protein, maltodextrin, and preservatives. There's no cheese in them at all, but they're called pasteurized cheese products.
3. Protein bars. Most protein bars are worse than candy. Protein bars contain a lot of plant protein, usually soy protein isolate, casein, or concentrated milk protein. Protein bars contain an insane amount of sugar. Don't eat protein bars. They're made from the cheapest ingredients. If you want good protein, choose eggs, cheese, or red meat.
4. Mayonnaise with seed oil. If you look at the ingredients list on the store shelf, 99% of mayonnaise contains soybean oil. Soybean oil is extracted from seeds through extensive processing. If you consume something like this, be aware that it causes severe inflammation.
5. Sweetened Flavored Yogurt. 70% of the yogurt we buy is sweetened flavored yogurt. This yogurt has more sugar per unit weight than ice cream. It also contains artificial colors and flavors. Understand that when you eat something high in sugar, it increases pathogens in your gut. It doesn't strengthen friendly bacteria. You eat yogurt and think you're getting a probiotic, but in reality, you're increasing the harmful bacteria, not the beneficial ones. Choose full-fat, plain yogurt made from grass-fed cows, which contains A2 protein. Or even better, full-fat, grass-fed kefir.
6. Soy Protein. This raw material is very cheap. It's harmful to the gut and liver, possibly because it contains traces of hexane. It's a refined, isolated protein. It's not a natural food. And it's GMO. Eat real protein – meat, eggs, fish, seafood.
7. Modified starches. This isn't even food. It's an industrial waste product. Starch is a very cheap product. It's used as a filler. It's not sugar, but it acts like sugar. In fact, it's worse. It causes a huge spike in blood sugar. Modified starches are also a waste product of corn syrup production.
