A TREE SWEATER
In the UK, a sweater is usually known as a "jumper," and in French, though I'd learned "tricot," they say "pull" now. (Or "pullover.") This one, creator unattributed, seems to be crocheted, and at first I really thought it was stupid, but then ... I thought it was funny. It didn't seem to be hurting the tree, and will come off before too long. Possibly better for the tree than a string of holiday lights, ha ha!!
This is in the garden of MACVAL, the contemporary art museum for the Val-de-Marne département just over the Paris border. Located in Vitry-sur-Seine, you can get to it by bus or tramway or both from Paris. It's not far at all.
This was probably at least my fourth visit to this museum, which always seems to cheer me, for some reason. I went on a first Sunday of the month, a French "heritage day," when a heck of a lot of stuff is free, but the entry price is always low here, anyway.
Tree trunks do get carefully covered in burlap and stuff to protect them at times, so this sort of idea is not unheard of, but what fun to crochet something with silly pom poms!
If you enjoy knitting, crocheting, tatting, spooling, home craft weaving, quilting, et c., and get tired of being asked, "What are you making?" for this, you could reply, "A sweater for a tree I like!" That'd give 'em a thought, eh?
