Hotkeys:
N to end the work area.
Cmd + Shift + X to trim composition to work area.
R for rotation properties.
S for scale properties.
Cmd + Z undo.
Shift + Cmd + Z redo.
P for position properties.
G for pen tool.
M for mask properties.
Pg Up or Down to go frame by frame.
U to bring up keyframes.
F9 to easy ease keyframes.
Cmd + D to duplicate.
to make a marker.
or - to zoom in and out.
Caps Lock while render will toggle off the preview window (helps render faster).
Tricks/Tips:
You can actually export this wipe and use it over and over again without remaking it by going up to Export then Add to Render Queue. You’ll want to go to lossless and click on the video output and change it from RGB to RGB + Alpha. Click the Caps Lock button to render without a review and it should render faster. Use that file in your Premiere edits!
Steps
After shooting (see tips below first) stack all the clips on top of each other. Click on the top one and click on the pen tool in the effects control panel and draw a mask around one version of yourself. Then feather out that mask. Repeat this process to all other layers you’d like to be shown. Be ware of moving people and make sure the mask gets around the person to avoid them moving out of the mask.
Tricks/Tips
Make sure to put you camera on a tripod otherwise cloning yourself will not work. Also I would suggest doing one long take to avoid your camera moving slightly when hitting record. Also get a long shot of nothing going on to be the “plate” that will go underneath all your footage. In order to green screen properly make sure to have consistent lighting with fewest shadows possible. Keep an eye out for glossy areas where the green screen can spill this will make it harder to key out later if there is a lot of spill. Lastly, when masking make sure to use as few point as possible.
