Fomm ir-Rih in Mgarr was one of the places that I saw on social media and realised that 'ohhh wait, I haven't been there yet!'

I looked it up on maps.google and decide that it was doable. I packed my backpack one fine afternoon and went. As per application it was meant to take circa 35 min but at some point of the journey, the roads limit to very narrow ones (I'd say of one way width..but in real, they are to be used for both directions). So you are either lucky or sweat your pants off! :)

Phewww...I got to the destination!

There are two ways to get to Fomm ir-Rih and each way offers a very different view and an access of where to go.

This Part 1. represents one route which took me to the view point of the Mouth of the Wind (English translation of Maltese Fomm ir-Rih). And if you wonder - yes! It was very windy! :)

There used to be a small beach which I wanted to get to. Even though there was a land slide in August 2020 which pretty much buried it, I still wanted to get down to see the area.

To my disappointment, I didn't find the way. The entire area was marked with Private Property signs on wooden boards or sprayed on the rocks but I read about these and its not true that these are all private. In fact, as per maps.google the paths should take me to the cart-routes (another point of interest which is part of a history). Basically this land is used by bird hunters who make these marks...to put people off from going around.

My day started with sun and turned to a cloudy and more windy so I decided to call it off for that day. It was still a good trip!

What will be Part 2. about? ...well..from this viewpoint I could see cars parked opposite on the left side - the side of the cliff which you can see on the video and it made me super curious about how they got there...all I can say is that I got there!! :)

Stay Tuned For Part 2.
