TLDR - A shoe’s prime is in the first 50 miles. If you want the best out of your shoes for race day, my recommendation is to keep the total mileage on them under 30 miles.

Everybody has a different opinion about breaking in race day shoes but I want to emphasize that times have changed‼️ Running shoes have evolved tremendously in recent years and breaking them in is no longer a pressing issue.
You “break in” running shoes in order to see if there are any manufactural issues, discomfort, or muscle strain from that particular shoe (even if you’ve used that model before).
You only need one or two runs for shoes to feel great. Gone are the days of taking weeks to months to break in your favorite pair of running shoes!
But if you’re superstitious, I understand - do what you have to do! 😆
