B-roll - Got that B roll! In the olden days you'd have an A camera to get A-roll - let's say that's an interview about peanut butter. Your B camera would then go and get shots of said Peanut butter, as well as anything else of interest, making it more interesting to watch than just some bloke talking about peanut butter. Nowadays it's probably all shot on one camera but still called B roll. The more B roll you get the more you can cut away to B-roll when you get to the edit and the audience will be none the wiser if you have to cover up a dodgy shot. GOT THAT B-ROLL!"
