Research: Defenses Against Narcissism Series. The ninth defense against narcissistic abuse is to do research. Cult leaders are almost always narcissists (if not also sociopaths). One of the characteristics of a cult is to control the information coming into the cult. Narcissists in personal relationships try to do this, too, making sure they're in charge of the information coming to you. Doing research into their conditions arms you against their schemes.
Narcissism is the biggest opposing force to rights. Once people find themselves in a narcissistic relationship, they'll experience emotional and verbal (sometimes physical or sexual) abuse. Narcissists leach off of their victims, using them for all the can get and when they can extract no more, they discard their victim.
