In this video I talk about why carb-loading before a race or long run is important.
I discuss:
• The need to have 7-10gs of carbs per 1kg of bodyweight in the days leading up to race day.
• The need to practice carb-loading before long runs (7-8gs of carbs per 1kg of bodyweight).
• The need to have a carb-rich breakfast before racing and long runs (1-4gs of carbs per 1kg of bodyweight)
And don’t be afraid of this! It may seem like a lot, and it may seem overwhelming, but it works. Please let us know in the comments below if you currently carb load and if so, what do you eat. Good luck!
A big caveat to all this information is that those with diabetes or other specific health conditions should speak to their doctor or consultant before adjusting their carbohydrate intake. Plus, those with any specific allergies or intolerances to certain types of carbohydrates may need to do further research to minimise possible illnesses or stomach distress.
