Nenun Widya presents The emergence of the commercial compound typology for revisiting the role of architect.
Triggered by Covid Pandemic, commercial compound searched for new model and bold iconic apporach in the outdoor as an uncontained space. The emergence of popular and successful commercial compound such as Pantjoran PIK area, Postbloc, M-Block and the revitalised Sarinah is the epitome of the capitalisation of outdoor space through place making. At the same time, this project set up a new arena of an alternative not just a design strategy but a business model.
In this conversation, Nenun Widya talks would like to set the emergence of the commercial compound typology for revising the role of architect.
To what extend the role of architect is critical in such project?
What is the dominant factor that makes the project successful? The business model or the design?
Should architect redefine its role in such project?
Edward Kusma is a Real Estate Developer. He have a very strong interest in the matter of affordable housing and sustainable development. Some of his recent projects are Vida Bekasi, Teras Mendalo, Fabriek Bloc and the upcoming Urban Forest.
Vicky Gozali is a professional with approximately 10 years of experience specializing in business development for the real estate and retail industry. Currently, she works as Chief Business Development of Indonesian Paradise Property and also will be joining as CBO of Imago - a house of brands encompassing in high and retail furniture and home living.
