Lubrication of the guides of the bed of the lathe MN-80
It is shown how I changed the lubrication of the bed guides along which the MN-80 lathe support moves.
The support of the MN-80 lathe has ball nipples for supplying oil to the friction zone. But oil is supplied only to the top of the guides. No oil is supplied to the side and bottom surfaces.

On this machine, the following surfaces must be lubricated.
For the near guide, all 4 surfaces must be lubricated: top, near side, far side and bottom.
At the far rail, two surfaces must be lubricated: the top and bottom.
It is necessary to lubricate those surfaces on which the support slides along the machine bed.
Existing felt pads do not have contact with the lower surfaces of the guides and do not provide lubrication and protection from dirt, dust, chips.
So I decided to make the overlays of a slightly different shape.
I took a sheet of felt and cut out 4 felt pads with a sharp knife. The pads near and far from us have a different shape.
In addition, I cut out the pads in a slightly different shape from what I was, to ensure that the felt is in contact not only with the top and side surfaces, but also with the bottom surface of the bed rails.
The overlay closest to us was in the shape of the Russian letter P, and now I made it in the shape of the Latin G.
And the distant cover was in the shape of the Russian letter G, and I made it in the shape of the Latin L.
Now wet felt will carry oil not only to the top and side surfaces, but also to the bottom.
Installed overlays. I feed oil through ball-type oilers to the machine bed. To speed up the oil saturation of the linings, I will pour the oil directly onto the bed from a manual oil can.
Hopefully, the oil will now flow more reliably onto the bottom of the bed.
This is how I, in my opinion, improved the lubrication of the bed guides along which the machine support moves.
For some reason, for the tailstock, which also slides along the bed guides, the machine developer did not provide felt pads.
