Of course, I had to go and start yet another side project, but I got curious about metal and since I had an old MBP that could run metal taking dust I decided to take it for a spin. Mostly use it as late-night laptop and that is where I do bibs and bobs of work on it.
The main focus for me remains SirEngine, but I want to use this project to do everything that SirEngine is not. SirEngine is not a game editor but is made to display stuff already setup, a material needs to be pre-defined you don't define it inside the engine. Instead, SirMetal aims to be an editor, and how I show in this video I am starting to work on the editor workflow. I decided to do this especially due to the fact that metal makes it much easier to do some stuff like shader introspection etc, which should allow me to do that kind of functionality much faster (main reason put me off from doing it in SirEngine).
