Teaching is a kind of performance but what kind of performance? Stand-up Comedy is most like teaching. Why? because only teachers & stand up comedians require continuous performative interaction.
Humour in the classroom also builds adaptive, critical, analytical and divergent thinking and can relieve stress, particularly useful in skills based classrooms. If we can treat our mistakes with a sense of humour, we can learn from failure, build resistance and keep learning.
