In order to laugh, or learn depends upon the same thing: participation & interaction. The Ah-Ha, I get it & Ha-ha, I get it! moment looks very similar within the brain. Both teaching and stand up comedy make you connect different ideas and perspectives to the present moment, you 'exercise' the brain in order to learn and to laugh. Being an audience member in a stand up comedy gig is not passive its highly active and so being at a stand up comedy gig is like a mental work out.
