Assessing communication in the classroom, why & how we should do it via Oracy & Educational Dialogue

Speaking and listening for the purpose of learning is nothing new, but effective assessment of communication in the classroom is new. If we can combine the language of the teacher, the researcher, the policy maker and the assessor we can learn to take communication in the classroom seriously. Studying at the Institute of Education, UCL and working with Cambridge CEDiR project we are testing out codifying of dialogue. Surprisingly Stand-up Comedy is highly dialogic, can teachers learn to use dialogue more effectively through training in Stand up Comedy performance.
