Three-part breathing space by Daran Crush
The short three-part breathing space can be taken laying or sitting, ideally with eyes closed. In the practice you just take the awareness to a wide open awareness of what is here right now, then focus in on the breath moving in and out and finally widen back out to notice the whole of the body. The practice is meant to allow a moment of noticing how things are and by feeling the sensations in the breath and body draw the attention back to the present moment.
I’m a Mindfulness Teacher; I also teach yoga. Since taking my first mindfulness course, my own practice and classes have changed, inviting a deeper connection.
I teach mindfulness and yoga classes in the workplace. I mix a range of yoga styles into a mindful class that is open to all. My classes are accessible and suitable for beginners as well as more experienced practitioners.
For me, a mindful yoga class allows for a ‘dropping in’ to each posture, sensing how it lands and being with what arises. Classes conclude with a body scan to further deepen awareness of what is really here.
