Tropical Storm Debby crawling along the coast of South Carolina
Tropical Storm Debby continues to affect the southeastern United States, with periodic strong winds and prolonged rainfall causing serious flooding issues in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina after it spent yesterday over northern Florida. The storm could strengthen again a little bit before making a final landfall further along the coast, possibly near Myrtle Beach. A tropical storm warning and storm surge watch remains in effect, whilst another 10 inches of rain is expected to fall in eastern Georgia. Debby is expected to devolve into a remnant low over land, and get sucked towards the northeast. Heavy rain from its remnants is expected to drop 8 inches of rainfall over central New York.
Elsewhere, Tropical Storms Emilia and Fabio continue to battle each other, with no clear sign of a winner. Neither storms are threatening land.
A new tropical storm has formed over the Ogasawara Islands, outlying islands of Japan. The storm will push northwards and has a chance of affecting the mainland this weekend depending on steering.
