Changing Document Units in Solidworks - Tip of the Day #36
In this #shorts video, we look at changing the units in a Solidworks document. This applies to parts, assemblies, and drawings alike - the Unit System tab is the same in every Solidworks document.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you accidentally model your part in one unit system (e.g. IPS) thinking that you are using another system (e.g. MMGS), you will need to redo all of your dimensions. In IPS, typing 0.5 will translate to 0.5 inches. If you meant to enter 0.5 mm instead and later realize you were using a different unit system, changing to MMGS will simply convert 0.5 inches to millimeters (12.7 mm). If you've made this mistake, you will need to redo all of the dimensions that you assigned under the original unit system.
