Using pins in assembled 3D prints
Another trick to avoid supports and overhangs with your 3D prints!
I'm using 1/8" steel roll pins, which are super cheap, especially if bought in bulk. The expanded diameter is about .010" oversized, so if you print/drill your holes to nominal size you will get a nice and tight press fit.
PLA is very prone to mechanical creep, so the pins might get looser over time in that material. I would recommend using PETG or ABS/ASA for anything that needs to hold up long-term.
