Let's end the debate, Google does not use bounce rate as a SEO ranking signal. Google reps have been saying for many years that it is a noisy, spammable, unreliable, and "not good" signal for determining whether a web page should rank higher in Google search results.

We look at reasons why this is a bad signal, why Google doesn't use it, and how the idea that bounce rate is a SEO ranking signal came to be circulated.
