AI Generated Images Exploit and Steal from Artists
A surprising number of web designers and software developers who criticize consumers for "not valuing what they do" or "being too cheap" seem to have no qualms about using so-called "AI art" or "AI generated images" which are really ripping off artists, often without their consent and without any compensation. The first of what could be many lawsuits about so-called "AI generated art" was announced today, as StableDiffusion is being sued by a trio of independent artists, as well as by Getty Images in a separate lawsuit. "AI generated images" use large datasets of real-world artists, and remix components to create "AI images" with your face put onto an image. I find it the height of hypocrisy and hubris to complain about customers devaluing your own work, when you are purposefully ripping off artists who have not been compensated and had their work stolen to feed machine learning engines. Hire a human artist, and stop being part of the exploitation you are complaining about in your own business.
