Cyclone Ialy was named as a new tropical storm yesterday and showed a decent appearance for some time, but is suffering today from high wind shear which is shifting the storm's convective clouds further away from the center. The storm still contains winds near 45 miles per hour, and is expected to continue westwards towards Grand Terre before turning north and dying out near the equator early next week.
Elsewhere, areas of interest persist in the Eastern and Western Pacific but are also finding difficulty in gaining traction. In the Indian Ocean, another area of interest has popped up near the southern Maldives and British Indian Ocean Territory, and is likely to move out further into the open ocean this weekend.
