Too Many Notes, for piano -- composed using Allegro Music Transformer
A Baroque-sounding piece, although it ends up more Romantic period, this was composed from an original seed. It's fast and furious, and has good tension and release in the middle and end.
The title "Too Many Notes" refers to a line in the play/movie "Amadeus." After hearing Overture to the Marriage of Figaro, Emperor Joseph II tells Mozart, "too many notes." Of course, like a lot of things in the movie, this is just fiction. Joe heard Mozart from the time he was a child prodigy, and was in awe of him. Salieri was Kapellmeister though, whereas Mozart was Kammercompositeur (chamber composer), which was a similar salary but a little less prestigious. Salieri was Kapellmeister in the Court because he had seniority. Mozart would have liked that position had it been open. Obviously, Salieri's music is mostly a footnote to that of Mozart's today.
I was playing through my old seed file and found this one from months ago when I was working with Allegro Music Transformer mostly. I had a dozen continuation files generated, and generated some more. I'd forgotten about it.
From those, I chose phrases to use in the final piece. This piece represents about 15 hours of work. I just don't want anyone new to AI software to get the impression it does everything. It just provides raw material, and you have to use MIDI software to compose the piece.
Consider how a single note can be changed: pitch, length, volume, instrument assigned. Slicing and dicing musical phrases, taking beats out, writing music in, transposing, it all takes time, and a good amount of familiarity and experience with MIDI software.
