Mike Cornick: 'Waltz for Laura' for piano
This piece is an arrangement of a four hand original by Mike Cornick from 'Easy Jazzy Duets - Piano' and it is republished in this solo version in 'Ragtime Blues and More' (UE, 2019). It's a jazz waltz in the style of Bill Evans (his 'Waltz for Debbie' is the model, and there is also a jazz standard by the name of 'Laura'). The form is extended by the inclusion of repeats for each half (so AABABA if the repeats are included, otherwise straighforward ternary form).
The music is charming and catchy in the manner of Cornick's other work.
