Alexander Goedicke (1877-1957) was a minor Russian composer and pianist. A few of his educational piano pieces are still in circulation today, like this expressive, sad miniature, a kind of dialogue between man and woman. It blossoms in the middle section, briefly cadencing in the relative major. This could almost have been composed by Tchaikovsky.
An ABRSM grade 5 piece in 2011-12 (and I well remember teaching it then).
