You know you need Google reviews to do well in local SEO, right? So you may email customers asking if they had a positive experience before emailing them a second time, with a link to leave a Google review.
This is Review Gating aka Review Funnels. It is against the Terms of Service at Google, Birdseye, and Yelp.
It can get your reviews taken down.
Why?
Because you are only soliciting positive reviews. You are not offering customers a link to your review profiles until you know with a certainty that they will leave you a good review.
That isn't looking for honest feedback. It's cultivating a view of your business that may or may not be accurate. This is why it's against the ToS of several companies.
You may unknowingly be doing this, or subscribed to a service which does this. Don;t get caught doing this or you may lose your reviews.
