Tropical Storm Ernesto forms near the Caribbean
Tropical Storm Ernesto formed earlier this evening, and is already strengthening as it nears the Leeward Islands. With the storm expected to arrive tomorrow, tropical storm warnings are in effect and heavy rain is expected for the region, including in Puerto Rico. Ernesto will strengthen more quickly as it leaves the islands and turns north, where it will become a hurricane and potentially a major hurricane as it moves northwards towards Bermuda.
The storm is also likely to deliver strong winds and very heavy rainfall to Bermuda, and could still head towards the northeastern United States and Atlantic Canada due to weak steering currents.
