Jim Doak is a Scottish bassist and singer who was a founding member of The Jolt. The Scottish band formed in 1976, starting out as a punk/new wave unit and would become precursors of the mod revival. Original members were drummer Iain Shedden, singer/guitarist Robbie Collins and Jim on bass and vocals. Later on the band would add another guitarist in Kevin Kay. The Jolt was often unfairly compared to The Jam and seemingly forever to languish in the shadows of Paul Weller’s band. By the time the band called it a day in 1979, they had left behind an album, an EP and a few singles. Iain Shedden sadly passed away in 2017 and in memory of Iain, Jim and Michael Rooney of The Primevals put together an album as The Elevator Mood in 2019.
