Bart de Win (Gerard van Maasakkers, Matthews Southern Comfort, Tip Jar) Interview (8/10/24)
Bart de Win is a Dutch musician, keyboardist and singer. A graduate of Rotterdam Conservatory, Bart became inspired by Americana music. His music style has been described as a crossover between pop, jazz, blues and Latin music. Early on Bart played as a sideman and a freelancer. In 2004 he began writing and performing his own original music with 3 solo albums to his credit. In collaboration with Arianne Knegt, Bart’s better half, as “Tip Jar”, the duo has released 7 albums with #8 to be out this fall. Bart played as a sideman for 15 years with Dutch singer/songwriter Gerard van Maasakkers. Mr. de Win has also played with Texan Walt Wilkins and with Iain Matthews in Matthews Southern Comfort. There have been shorter collaborations over the years with Birds of Chicago, Sam Baker, Bill Small, Terry Klein, Susan Gibson, Kevin Welch, Awna Texeira to name a few. In addition to all of his playing and performing, my guest also finds time to teach music.
