The Track of Hurricane Fiona (2022)
Hurricane Fiona was one of the strongest storms within the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season. First, the system brought impacts to the Northeast Caribbean, bringing very heavy rainfall, especially to the island of Puerto Rico. Several mudslides occurred during Fiona's passage in Puerto Rico, and even for a time, the entire island was without power.
This was only the beginning of Fiona's path however, after Puerto Rico, the system made landfall in Hispaniola, bringing hurricane-force winds to the eastern part of the island, and after that, strengthening to a Category 3 storm as it slowly passed through the Eastern Turks and Caicos Islands.
Once Fiona passed the Caribbean Islands, all the attention turned to Bermuda and Atlantic Canada. Fiona quickly passed by Bermuda, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall, and then the system bombed out as it interacted with a trough in the Northeast US. This bombing out process unfortunately took place as the system was approaching Atlantic Canada, and the system set low pressure records across Nova Scotia as it came ashore. After that, the system continued weakening, and eventually dissipated between North America and Greenland.
