Transcript:
The First Men is the name given to the original human settlers who ventured to Westeros over twelve thousand years ago. At this time the land bridge, or the Arm of Dorne, was still in tact and the First Men used this passage to travel to the Western lands. Led by the First King, they then traveled North where they encountered the Children of the Forest.
The Children of the Forest were a peaceful, religious and magical race of small human like creatures. Their gods, known as the old, were worshiped using Weirwood Trees, which the First men cut down in abundance and sparked a war between the two factions. Although the Children were powerful in magic they were no match for the larger, strong and advanced race of men.
With reinforcements pouring in from the East, the Children of the forest destroyed the land bridge between Westeros and Essos. The war continued until a peace treaty ended the fighting, and the two races lived in peace for 4000 years. During this period, the First Men came to learn and follow the same religion as the children.
When the Long Night arrived so did Whitewalkers, and the Children and First men united to defeat this new evil. Led by the last hero they pushed the icy creatures North then constructed the wall to keep them at bay.
Soon after, the Andals traveled to Westeros and waged war on the First Men, conquering the South of the continent whilst being held off at the neck. Here the two cultures of men lived, Kings of Winter in the North and the Andals in the South.
