Transcript:
Following the Battle of the Bells was a confrontation that became one of the most influential fights Westeros had seen in centuries held at the Trident. With the entire country in turmoil, Robert with a strong force behind him and the Mad King feeling threatened, this battle would have a lasting impact on the war.
Baratheon, Stark, Tully and Arryn forces, totaling about thirty-five thousand, grouped and began to march South setting their sites on King's Landing. On the Targaryen side, Crown Prince Rhaegar took command of the royal army accompanied by ten thousand Dornish and the remaining men fighting across the country. They knew that the Trident would be a tactical waypoint for the rebels to cross and marched North.
Soon the opposing sides met and the fierce battle began. Amidst the fighting Robert and Rhaegar met in single combat, Dragon versus Stag, Hammer versus Sword the two men fought upon their horses, in knee-high water. Both men legendary warriors, almost equal in abilities, duelling amidst the chaos of a seventy-thousand man battle. As the traded blows, Robert managed to land a hit with so much force it shattered Rhaegars armor and killed him. It is said that the Crown Prince died with his lovers name on his lips.
With their leader removed, the Targaryen forces scattered then began a retreat to King's Landing. Among blood-soaked battlefield Barriston Selmy was captured, who was close to death and brought before Robert Baratheon. The Rebel Leader intended to kill Selmy, but was persuaded to keep him alive by Roose Bolton.
Seeing the result from this Battle, Waldur Frey chose to back the rebellion and with the addition of these forces they marched South, onward to conquer King's Landing.
