1951 saw the first time since 1937 that the United States wasn't hit by a hurricane, and was the least damaging season for the nation since 1939.
The strongest storm if the season was Hurricane Easy, a Category 4 hurricane that briefly threatened Bermuda. The deadliest and costliest storm of the season was Charlie, which was the strongest storm to strike Jamaica until Hurricane Gilbert in 1988, and caused 257 fatalities and $75 million in damages.
