Lower back muscles and your abdominals work together to stabilize and protect your back.
Overworking the abs. means that you are creating a shorter muscle on the front of the barrel (your trunk) which now does not match the back and sides of the barrel.
This is absolutely not the right way to create stability.
So what should you do?
Do exercises that practice all of these muscles together so they learn to 'dance' together. You are only as strong as the team you are a part of and that goes for your muscles too.
